It was mostly the availability of the hotel, location and the price. Televsion was nice flat screen and working properly.
It felt like a neglected old hotel which is ready to fall apart,,,literally! No lifts so heavy luggage was a struggle. The carpet was duck taped at numerous places..almost at every third step.Staff was minimal...a one woman band. She was manning the Bar and had to close down the bar so she could tend to any guests or problems etc.Cleanliness was a big problem...i had to move the bed to connect the plug of the lamp and was all dusty and filthy. It felt that the room was not in use for a long time and hadnt been cleaned properly. In the bathroom were sachets of soap and shower gel placed in a plastic Bowl (the ones u buy from supermarket for birthday parties) onto which dirt and fiber were stuck all along the trim design.Corners ...any corners bathroom or the room itself were filthy.Lighting was dim.
Proximity to venue and Metrolink, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast very good
Bathroom Door lock faulty, had to get night staff to open when the lock failed to operate, not all the lights on the lamp worked. Room very small and cramped, no nets on the window - the window is very central and above the bed and faces onto the main road therefore no privacy at all (except by drawing curtains), furnishings and decor etc showing signs of age
Efficiency combined with friendly helpfulness and can do attitude of reception staff. Hotel had received bad writeups but we found it exactly what we were looking for. There was no noise or disturbance either inside or outside of the hotel, and we stayed on a Saturday night. Plenty of room on car park even though the hotel was full. Great location beside the fastest most efficient metro we have travelled on. CityCentre and MEN Arena just one short and inexpensive tram ride away. Early check in from 2pm and late check out 11am. A very refreshing change to be able to arrive in time to relax and explore the area before getting ready for evening out, and a leisurely get up the following morning for check out.
Some of the rooms are fantastic and some are very small and basic, but the prices are the same, and it is a lottery who gets what. I ended up in a luxury double room, my daughter in a basic double, but we paid the same price. My son had a small 'adequate' single while a friend had a bigger and slightly more prepossessing single, but they both paid the same price. I would have been happy to pay a little more for my better room, and will hesitate to go back, even though I really liked the place and the staff. I would not have felt comfortable in one of the basic rooms and there did not seem to be any facility (charge or otherwise) whereby one of the better rooms could be guaranteed.
the price was very good, and its only a quick tram ride away from town centre
the hotel is very nice but could do with a bit of a make over, a little on the old fashioned side!
Restaurant closed for a function so had to go out to eat. Very tired decor with badly cracked wash hand basin and very thin matress.
The building looks nice from the outside...
But is a complete wreck from the inside. They have functions downstairs until 1am every Friday, which they do not mention until you are checked in, and the old building does not shield you from the noise. We left to find somewhere else to sleep.
Room was clean and tidy. Had a problem with first roomm allocated smelling of smoke from previous guest, but room was changed with no fuss. Hotel handy for Old Trafford, but not much in area for meals. Good value for money.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was spacious.
The room was kind of disgusting. It was everything but clean and the first thing i did was to fumigate the bathroom and all the surfaces i had to touch. There where leftovers on the table, to sofa looked as if someone vomited on it and... i wouldn't go there again. Can't say anything about the food though, after i saw the room i decided to have breakfast in the city instead.
Very friendly & helpful staff, friendly bar area as most were manu fans there for the match as we were. Hotel needs updating/decorating but the bed was comfortable and the hotel was very quiet whilst sleeping, good location for manu supporters going to the match as we were.
Decoration and fittings were past their sell date!
Close to Old Trafford with good parking.
Although the food and hotel staff were fantastic the building and rooms are looking tired. A refurbishment is required. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
It is close to Old Trafford (10 minute walk) and it has free parking.
Pretty grotty when you look closely. I think the bathroom had been transported from the 70s. A packet of crisps in the bar cost 90p, we didn't bother with drinks. Breakfast is extra (continental £4, full-english £7).
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Being near the football stadium was very good.
The hotel needs a lot of updating.
I felt the staff were very helpfull and went out of there way to know who you are and to be very helpfull
A slight negative was the room which could do with a bit of updating, tv bathroom etc
room was ok, but for money was very basic. also shower was broken and was unable to shower in the am.
Brian who dealt with breakfast was very very friendly and helpful.\ Great that the bar was open until 4am.
The barman was a bit grumpy and wasnt very polite.
